BASICS NAME: Shijima Kurookano. CANON: Nabari No Ou. COURT: Unseelie. LIVES AT: Lumina's chocobo farm outside Mair. AGE: Looks thirteen at the oldest; she's very slight and small. She's over a century old, however. HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 4'6"/66. BELONGINGS • Her Eachdraidh locket. • A Green Chocobo male, Akihiro; acquired as a baby at Lumina's farm. • A chunk of amber. • A set of claws. • A cat's collar slash necklace. • A magical rucksack. When in human form, it's human-sized; and when in cat-form, cat-sized! She can put whatever she likes in it, knowing it will be reliably downsized with the transformation. • A copy of the Unseelie Seal, which allows her to request special aid and support from Unseelie-aligned NPCs and do special court-aligned work. • Some colorful feathers, once attached to a Christmas gift from Jack Frost. • A Mark from Ganon that serves as payment to anyplace she goes to eat within Mair. What a way to ensure loyalty... • Two small metal birds that are enchanted to fly on their own. • A cat collar with a bell that connects to Hiro's network; works throughout the timeskip, limited to other persons on that network. • A cat necklace (Lumina, Yule 2701). • A length of rope that never frays, is fireproof, and whose knots only untie when she wills them to. • An oversized wool sweater (Berserker, Yule 2701). • A magic aquarium & a few enchanted feathers (Hiro, Yule 2701). • A catnip mouse (Damon, Yule 2701). ABILITIES • Shijima is an immortal. Despite her best efforts she is completely incapable of dying. She can "die", but she gets better. It just hurts. She's been shown to have her arm ripped off in canon, and it didn't get much more than crazy laughter after it happened, and then a vague acknowledgement and statement that it would probably grow back after her companions worried over it. She's later seen tying it back on with bandages herself. This was simply faster than waiting for it to grow back, since a severed arm re-attaching was more practical. Her compatriot, Kouichi (who shares the same skills as her) was capable of being fatally shot through the chest and healing (though he complained about it hurting, after the fact, the wimp). The scar tissue did take a few days to fade, but fade it did. Both of them show little to no concern for injuries, and Kouichi is even fine with falling off a huuuuge drop over a railing since he would "get better". To summarize, Shijima has insane recovery skills and coupled with them a complete disregard for her own well-being. • Rather than saying she can turn into a cat (which she...can, technically), Shijima is capable of using Tenpenka - a ninja art in Nabari that reshapes the cells of the user into any desired shape, making her a shapeshifter. Her human form is actually what she transforms into, not the other way around; it's more "convenient" for speaking to humans, so she tends to use it when she wants to speak to humans. Sometimes she will just hang out as a cat, though. Technically she could shapeshift into other things (another user has been shown to change into alternate human forms, even) but Shijima has never done this because she doesn't really care enough to bother, to be completely honest (but the possibility is there to be used for missions or whatnot if anyone could convince her to do it, so I should mention that). While she prefers her cat form, the human form is what she uses when she wants to communicate with humans, so she...will be using that one a lot. She cannot speak human speech in her cat form. There is a downside to this technique: because the cells are being reshaped, they will eventually misalign, collapse, and die. ...Since Shijima has her insane healing and inability to die, this downside apparently doesn't bother her much at all, although if she gets injured/tired it can be a pain to maintain the ninja art and she'll have to default back to cat form until she's more well-rested. Capped to human, cat, and kite (bird of prey, not toy) forms. • Physically, Shijima's skills are well above the average person (we're speaking in her human form; she's decidedly less battle-ready as a small housecat). She's extremely fast on her feet, and very graceful despite a truly terrible posture, a combination of both her cat-speed and her ninja training. Shijima is also much, much stronger than most people would assume at first given that she's only about four and a half feet tall, even being shown at one point to drag two grown men by herself, one in each hand. She's had over a century of training in fighting and seems to enjoy it as much as she enjoys anything. It should also be noted that she actually bites people when fighting, as a cat would, so...enjoy that. • Besides the speed/grace thing, other cat-like attributes seem to hold true in her human form (which, since it's just a shapeshift, makes sense); Shijima has a good nose and is an excellent tracker, and furthermore can see very well in the dark. • In human form, Shijima seems to attract animals without doing much of anything - even birds and such, who normally wouldn't be calm around a cat. She seems capable of understanding them, as well, due to being an animal herself. • Shijima has been learning fire magic at the Magic Guild. She has so far learned the low level spell Flame (single target). By the end of the time skip, she's projected to learn Flame Bomb (small zone) and Burning Rain (large area fire rain) also from the low-level fire tier, as well as the first high-tier fire spell Flame Shot (single target) after which she will start chugging away at the other high-tier fire spells.
