As of mid-July 2701 Shijima will have a cat-collar connection to Hiro's network consisting of herself, Hiro, Jason, Loki, Billy, Eren, Lumina, Lemina, Thrall, and Howard, so those people can contact her from that point on with that network which will persist through the timeskip. She also completely fails to enter any sort of voicemail message for that, WHAT UP. ]

[Well, now that all of this crazy bullshit with the snow and Roc is finished? Shijima will find that wherever she happens to be she will be visited by two small toy birds that seem to fly on their own, made of a light metal and enchanted to stay airborne for a while. Tied to the leg of one of the birds though is a note written in Hiro's blocky handwriting.]

Told you I'd do it.
PS let me know if they stop working and I'll fix them and make them better.

[ It takes a little while for Shijima to reply. She's not sure how she was found by the little metal birds, but she's fascinated by them and it takes some time for her to bother to read the note.

At least she can tell who it was from, and she calls him up immediately. ]

How did they find me? A homing...spell? [ FASCINATING, maybe this magic stuff really is worth knowing. ]

Have you met any of the Aellyn sorcerers around here? I called in a favor just to make sure the birds would find you and not somebody else. I...don't think they're supposed to be doing stuff like that for us though. [Oh well.] I'm thinking about asking if they can teach me or maybe the monarchs can. It's gotta be teachable. [He's good, but he's not that good.]

No. I spend time with different sorts of people. [ like mercenaries and shady guilds, apparently...shijima knows there are magicians around, but she pays little mind to it aside from the guild hiro had mentioned, earlier. ] It would be a useful thing to know, this sort of spell. A way to pass letters quickly...I'm told the lockets are watched by the monarchs or something. I do not particularly care [ since she's not up to anything treasonous ] but some do and would prefer more secure methods of speaking, I suppose.

[Just gonna assume she means murderers to be honest. Somehow that seems to be how a lot of his innercircle is run.] I'm looking into it, but I don't think I have enough metal to make a lot of birds and I don't know how to do a tracking spell myself. [The lockets though. He can believe the lockets are monitored and he doesn't like that.]

I don't think that's a bad idea. I'm already putting together a list of what I want to make if I can figure out how. Something more secure, something that only we can use, and definitely something that can be used to bookmark past conversations instead of trying to backtrack all the time. I just don't know how they're made.

Artificer girl? Who is she? Got a name? [This is probably really his first time hearing about Rin in that sense but that sounds like a step in the right direction.]

I don't think he ever told me that. [Then again most of his time with Eren so far has been spent trying to teach him to be a normal teenager so of course it didn't come up.] Rin the Artificer. I'll see if I can get in touch with her, maybe she can help me start creating something on my own. Have you ever actually met her?

I have a feeling that most of the people around here are only vague acquaintances with each other. I have no idea where the Barrel is either but I can always call her on the lockets. That's going to help a lot.
